Solid experience. Decided to check out this spot and I left overall satisfied. While I wished the proportions were bigger, the food was delicious and perfectly represented what to expect from Japanese cuisine. Service was very friendly and the vibe of the establishment felt very welcoming.

I was craving sushi and happened to stop by Kato for the first time since it’s near campus. I ordered their sexy roll, pork dumplings and cucumber lemonade. Everything is SO SO SO good I stopped breathing. The flavors are everything and I love the atmosphere it offers, it’s cozy enough to take my laptop out and do some work whilst I eat. My server is super attentive but not overbearing and super nice <3 This easily became one of my new favorite spots!

The service was great, but deducted one star because we had to look around for someone when we entered for lunch. The house Monkey Salad was exceptional and the rolls were up to standard. We enjoyed the miso soup. We would visit again.

First time trying this restaurant because of a HEB receipt coupon and boy was I happy I tried it with my family! This place didn’t disappoint even for someone who normally doesn’t eat sushi all the time. We tried the rice dish with beef, chicken and shrimp, fantastic! We tried the spicy noodle dish and that had a different flavor, which was great! We also tried two different rolls and that too was good. Then we finished off with a brownie platter dessert that our granddaughter destroyed because it was so good. We will definitely come back.

Oh great heavens, upon entering Kato Sabi, we were immediately greeted by Ilse, a waitress of such distinguished excellence that I nearly clutched my pearls and fainted straight onto the floor. Her presence alone commanded the room with the softly authoritative grace of a Victorian governess who absolutely will not tolerate nonsense, yet somehow remains kind enough to offer you a warm biscuit. When she asked for our order, I swear a gentle breeze swept through the restaurant as though the universe itself wished to witness the moment. Never have I felt so seen, so guided, so spiritually supervised by a woman holding a notepad. But alas—nothing could prepare my fragile mortal body for the sushi that soon arrived. Upon taking the first bite, I very nearly exclaimed, “GOOD LORD ABOVE,” as my soul attempted to exit my physical vessel in sheer astonishment. The flavors did not merely enter my mouth; they announced themselves, loudly, like a choir of angels bursting through a stained-glass window mid-hymn. I blinked upward, wondering if it was appropriate to offer a small prayer of gratitude, because sincerely, the experience bordered on biblical. Had someone slapped a holy light filter across my vision, I would not have questioned it. By the conclusion of our feast, I found myself clutching the edge of the table like a Victorian child recovering from a dramatic episode of “the vapors.” Ilse, ever attentive, ensured our cups were filled, our spirits high, and our dignity only mildly compromised by how many times we gasped audibly. I left Kato Sabi feeling as though I had survived a divine encounter—shaken, enlightened, and slightly ashamed at how quickly I would return. Should there ever be a patron saint of sushi, let it be Ilse, for truly, no mortal exceeds her.

This place is a hidden gem. The ambiance is cozy & the service is always great! The food is equally impressive — fresh, flavorful, and thoughtfully presented. I especially loved their Monkey Salad — it’s a must-try! I’ve tried a few sushi rolls & each one always hits the spot! Highly recommend!

Absolutely exquisite!! The food was very fresh, full of flavor and presented beautifully. The gyoza was fried to perfection. It had a delicate crispness and sprinkled with just the right amount of spicy heat. The service and ambience were also excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely come visit again.
